Plugs are coated with a dual cure cushion gum to provide a permanent repair. After properly preparing the injury area, coat the stem with 16450 Patch Fast Cement. Insert the pilot wire through from the inside, then grab the stem with pliers and pull into the injury. The dual cure cushion gum coating on the stem, along with the combination of compression and chemical vulcanization, will form a permanent bond to the tire. Cover the repair with an appropriate patch repair unit. Always use a separate Plug Stem and Tire Repair Patch. Plug Stems are for use in the crown area on passenger, light truck, and truck tires. The purpose of a Plug Stem is to fill the injury and prevent moisture and debris from entering the tire.
